Class description

Call in the rain clouds with a gourd rain stick.... or use the gentle sound to soothe you after a rough day at work. With the use of wire to help slow the "noisemakers" you will learn how to cut, clean, place the wire and "rainmakers", put your stick back together and then CREATE your design on the outside with dyes, wood burning, leather and embellishments.

This class is for all levels of gourders.

I will supply a prepped and cleaned gourd, wire, glue, assorted leather, dyes and paints, wood burner, noise makers, latex gloves, tutorial, and will have extra tools available for use.

What you are required to bring

Wood burner, Dremel type rotary tool with ball bits, embellishments of choice like beads or focal pendant.

About the instructor

Janice's journey into art began late in life, but with a BAM! when she encountered her first gourd, a Mayan drum. Her interest grew in this odd, dried plant. Initially self-taught, Janice has continually added to her skills and knowledge by seeking out classes from some of the best in the field of both gourd art and other mediums. The composite of all these experiences is evident in her unique vision and attention to detail.
