Class description

 

Whether a novice or an expert artist, this class is fun and gives you a remarkable opportunity to work with colored pencils on wood.

 

In this class, you will first transfer the design to the lid of a wooden box, which will follow with outlining the design with the pen and then prepping the surface for colored pencils.  This can be done on gourd surfaces too.  

 

You’ll finish the design with color, using colored pencils.  Each student will get a wooden box to decorate and a black-fine tip Sharpie to take home, along with a class tutorial.  Colored pencils will be available for coloring. (not to give away)

Class Cancellation Policy

 

If you need to cancel this class, you MUST contact us before August 22, 2024 in order to receive a refund. Note that NGS will withhold $10 per cancelled class to cover processing fees. To cancel, call Patti Jo Newsom @ 817-917-7873 or email nevadagourdsociety@gmail.com.

If a class does not meet the minimum number of students, the class will be cancelled, you will be contacted, and your full registration fee will be refunded.

 

About the Instructor

 

Smruti Kurse, originally from Pune, India, is a versatile artist who uses various mediums such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, oils, and pyrography to create her art. Her work reflects a deep contemplation of authentic portrayal of life, capturing moments in time that evoke atmosphere and suspense without being part of a narrative. She blends realism and impressionism, reflecting her emotional and experiential influences.  She has been involved in non-profit work with organizations such as USHF, local schools, and community events, while also exhibiting her artwork in galleries.
