Class description

YOU CAN MASTER WATERCOLOR PAINTING. We will start with a short drawing lesson using techniques from the book "Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. Once the student lets go of the "perfect drawing", mistakes become "happy accidents" and the application and beauty of watercolors won't be so daunting. We will use a still life set-up and/or student photos to draw our subject. Then we will explore some watercolor techniques and exercises to discover and use the watercolor medium before we tackle our masterpiece final painting.

This fun and informative class is for all levels of artists.

I will supply:

Watercolor paints, brushes, pencils, permanent pens, watercolor paper, boards to support the paper, practice drawing paper, tubs for water, paper towels, pallets, pre-cut mats with an 8.5"x11" opening (small additional cost).

What you are asked to bring

Please bring personal photos of subjects that you would like to paint. Please, no commercial or professional photos from other sources. It is best to paint from your own experience. Below are the photos used for 2 of the paintings pictured above:

About the instructor

Most of my life has been focused on the arts. Both of my parents were talented and they inspired and explored art within the family and the community. I have Fine Arts degree, of course from many years back but used my talents as a graphic designer for my career years. I started painting regularly and continuously in the past 20 plus years. I have won several ribbons along the way and have enjoyed teaching, mostly to a small class or even one on one in my home studio.
